Mark your calendars, folks.

On August 2, 2019, the K-12 Cyber Incident Map reported its 533rd publicly-disclosed cyber incident. While that may sound like a lot what is more important is that today marked the day that the total number of incidents experienced in 2019 exceeded the total for all of 2018.

You read that right. We’ve got nearly five months left in the calendar year and we’re already on a pace to blow by last year’s total.

This is the opposite of winning on K-12 cybersecurity risk management.

For those who missed the going’s on in 2018, I’d recommend reading “The State of K-12 Cybersecurity: 2018 Year in Review.” Next year’s report promises to be even more interesting.

Stay safe out there.
